about

In the Winter of 2015, Portrait of Sailboats was an idea conceived from a naval painting on the wall of a hospital where my body became collapsible shortly after blood was drawn— nearing unconsciousness in a state of heightened preservation the world and my vision became temporarily ultraviolet. This is the perception and sensation I brought into the process for recordings over the next two years in many different locations: physical, emotional, and mental; friends' bedrooms, basements, beneath the St. Johns Bridge at night, from inside warm living rooms, cafés, through exhaustion, rain, fog, isolation, intimacy, and bright mornings. This array of different feelings and places revealed a hyperawareness for mortality and with this I gesture toward impermanence— letting it become the focus of inspiration its undercurrent and irrefutable presence in all things.
